Silence Isn't Silent

Patagonia teamed up with Pop-Up Magazine Productions on its Working Knowledge video series, to create a collection of stories about the passing of knowledge “…grounded in wild places and activism”. This story details the story of ASL interpreter Justin Maurer, and ties in with the Hoh Rainforest in Washington’s Pacific northwest. Special care was given to accurately represent the wet, dense forest, as well as to the pivotal scene where actor Troy Kotsur signs “This is our moment” during his Oscar acceptance speech for best supporting actor in CODA at the Academy Awards. The artwork was created as textural support for a live storytelling event, and paired with live music in an outdoor theater in southern California. The live event was recorded and produced as content for Patagonia’s website and social channels.
